Bait

Natural bait

To start with I like to use bait that has been used all over the place for many years

A good starting bait would be to use sweet corn, I will usually use 2 or sometime 3 pieces of sweet corn as this more often than not stops the smaller fish from taking the bait.

If sweet corn is not taking will you should try red maggots these will usually catch you small perch and roach, for slightly larger fish use worms.

Pellets

Micro pellets these can be used to make the fish feed, the New Dynamite Baits Swim Stim 1mm Micro Pellets are extremely good Price is around £3.45 for a 900g bag, these can cause a feeding frenzy dramatically increasing the chances of you getting a bite. The best method for using them is adding them to a spod or filling a pva bag and casting it out with your hookbait inside.

For the hook bait I would use Dynamite Baits Marine Halibut Pellets on a hair rig or a rubber ring and then add some of The Marine Halibut Method Mix (http://www.dynamitebaits.com/index.php?id=1006&usergroup=carp) around your swim.

Meat bait

Meat baits are an excellent as they are a well underused group of bait, they can get some excellent results on waters that are fished hard on Boilies and pellets.

I like to use Luncheon Meat it is one of the softer meats around and the smaller fish can break it down, in this situation I would have frozen the meat this also gives it a longer casing range.

Peperami is also a very good bait it cost more than Luncheon Meat but because of its tough skin it will last longer, and can also be hair riged.

The gear

Fishing is an easy sport that people of different age and race enjoy.
with the right equipment you can become a serious contender.

The Rod
An important piece of fishing gear that you can purchase would be the rod there are some rods out there that are designed for many different uses from match to carp to lure.
once you have found the type fishing area you like you can visit your local tackle shop and get a more specialist rod.
The Reel
The Line
  • For the mainline i would run 15lb Fox Warrior Carp Line Euro Plat Grey which can be picked up for around £9 this is very strong and will help for catching them large carp.
